Data Compliance Support

IEDA offers several services to help investigators to comply with data policies of funding agencies. IEDA is developing tools that will make it easy for you to contribute your data to our data collections, but will also facilitate your efforts in demonstrating that you are compliant with data sharing policies. Data Management Plan Tool Since January 2011, any proposal submitted to the NSF must include a supplemental document outlining the plan for data management or a justification as to why there is no need for such a plan. FastLane will reject proposals that do not include a data management plan. We have developed the IEDA Data Management Plan tool to help investigators generate a data management plan for proposal, primarily those submitted to program within the GEO and OPP divisions at NSF. The IEDA Data Management Plan tool allows you to:
  • enter information about one or more data and sample types that will result from your proposed project;
  • select from a pull-down menu data and/or sample repositories to which you plan to submit;
  • generate a pdf document for inclusion in your proposal.
The tool will be continuously improved based on user feedback.   Data Compliance Reporting Tool (released October 1, 2011) IEDA has developed a tool that helps investigators demonstrate compliance with NSF data policies. The IEDA Data Compliance Reporting Tool allows you to generate an inventory of data in IEDA systems linked to NSF awards.  The information provided by this tool includes a list of data sets with release status and links to data sets.   Please contact us with questions or suggestions at info@iedadata.org.
